I played around last weekend with some Fall Outdoor Decor. I love to deck out my front porch for Fall, but we’re having new rails installed next week, so my outdoor decorating will have to wait. Adding whimsy to my outdoor vignettes is my style and I love the traditional rich, vibrant and natural fall colors. Last week, hubby and I had a meeting right across the street from my favorite nursery, so I just had to pop in. I couldn’t resist buying a few mums, well okay I bought 4 to be exact and a big basket planter that I will show you below. The buds were tight with just a few flowers starting to open, just how I like them.
Anyway, those purchases got me thinking about creating some Fall Vignettes. Once the creative juices got flowing, I had fun doing it and making a huge mess in the process. Up first is a vignette featuring my trusty ladder that I picked up at an estate sale several years ago. The blue milk can was a flea market find from several years ago too. I use both of these pieces pretty much every year somewhere in my gardens and they both made appearances in a previous post that I did on garden vignettes using flea market finds.
Next, I changed things up a bit and added in this little scarecrow. He has a stick up his keister that makes it convenient to poke him just about anywhere.
Here’s a closeup of the little fellow. Can you tell I have a thing for scarecrows.
In the next grouping, I scored the bench made out of barnwood from a local craft boutique called Home Essentials Boutique. Check out the big galvanized pail with the yellow mum in it. My sweet hubby brought that home for me last week. After 37+ years, he knows the way to this girl’s heart.
Here another grouping using the barnwood bench.
Up next, is this beautiful arrangement. I usually don’t purchase planters already put together, but this one, I just couldn’t pass up. I love the combination of the ornamental pepper plant, the mums, the rubeckia, the ornamental kale and the other plants. After the annuals are spent, I will pull the perennials and plant them before the ground freezes. At least that’s my plan anyway.
Here’s one last vignette – a little less cluttered.
So which one is your favorite? I’m still not sure how I will decor my tiny front porch, but all I will have to do is refer back to these pictures. Do you decorate outside for Fall? Do you like the traditional fall colors, or do you like changing things up a bit?
